Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have recorded major operational breakthroughs under the ongoing Operations Peace Shield and Zāfin Wuta. A series of coordinated missions across Taraba State resulted in the disruption of an armed robbery, the rescue of kidnapped victims, and the recovery of illegal weapons.
On 6 December 2025, troops stationed at Manya responded swiftly to a distress call reporting that armed robbers had barricaded the Manya–Takum Road and were robbing commuters. The soldiers immediately mobilised and executed a rapid clearance assault. On sighting the advancing troops, the criminals fled in panic, abandoning their weapons. A follow-up search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and three rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Their timely response prevented harm to travellers and restored free movement along the route.
In a separate operation on 7 December 2025, troops deployed at Kufai Amadu acted on credible intelligence that four men from Bauchi State, travelling on two motorcycles, had been abducted inside Amadu Town while heading to Baissa in Kurmi Local Government Area. Preliminary findings revealed that the men, who were unfamiliar with the area, had stopped to ask for directions when Mr. Musa Danji and Mr. Yusuf were seized by kidnappers and taken toward New City. Troops immediately launched an aggressive search-and-rescue mission within the general area.
During a coordinated bush clearance, two abducted victims—Mr. Yusuf Musa and Mr. Muhammed Umar—successfully escaped their captors and were rescued. Search operations are ongoing to locate the remaining victims, Mr. Musa Danji and Mr. Yusuf, while efforts have been intensified to track and apprehend the perpetrators.
