The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’s SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has recorded a significant breakthrough with the arrest of three suspects allegedly involved in the vandalism of a critical telecommunications tower in Yobe State.
The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that certain criminal elements were collaborating with a terrorist group to vandalize a live telecom installation in Savannah, Potiskum Local Government Area, Yobe State.
SIS operatives acted swiftly, arresting the suspects at the scene. The suspects—Ibrahim Jibrin (44) of Damaturu, Dahiru Ibrahim Isa (38) of Babban Layi, Potiskum, and Usman Ali Isa (27) of Dabar Mai Chafa, Potiskum—are currently in custody.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Ibrahim Jibrin, believed to be a specialist in such acts, was allegedly contracted to decommission the mast for N800,000, receiving an initial N200,000 payment from an accomplice identified as Alhaji Kabiru of Kano. Recovered exhibits include vandalized tower components and various tools used in the operation.
In furtherance of the Corps’ renewed mandate to combat crime and protect national assets, the SIS also made additional arrests across several locations. Acting on intelligence received on 15 November 2025 regarding robbery incidents involving motorbike and phone snatching in the Kuje and Tungan Maje areas, operatives arrested David Moses and Nuhu Inusa in Gui, Abuja. Several stolen phones were recovered, and the suspects confessed, revealing their operational methods and the identity of an accomplice who compensated them with two Bajaj motorcycles valued at N400,000 and N350,000 respectively.
Additionally, three suspects—Akawe Uter, Sunny Obasi, and Ezugwu Godwin—were arrested in connection with an earlier case involving George Nyitamen. They face charges of unauthorized power connection and distribution, tampering with electrical installations, and harassing staff of the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC).
Following a distress call, SIS operatives also arrested Vincent Haliru Maigari (27) for stealing plumbing materials from an apartment he had been contracted to repair near the Didi/Madiba Casa Estate. Maigari has confessed to the crime, and other individuals who fraudulently purchased the stolen items have also been apprehended.
The Commandant General of the NSCDC, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mni, OFR, has directed all specialized units to intensify operations against critical infrastructure vandalism and all forms of economic sabotage.
The SIS Commander, Commandant of Corps Samu Appollos Dandaura, JP, expressed strong optimism that continued public cooperation will further strengthen the Corps’ ability to deliver effectively on its mandate.
All arrested suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of thorough investigations.
