The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command, under the proactive leadership of Commandant EA Ajayi, has convened the 3rd Quarter Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting with the Heads of Private Guard Companies (PGCs) operating within Sokoto State.
The meeting was held on Wednesday, 3rd December 2025, at 10:00 hours, in the Conference Hall of the NSCDC Sokoto State Command Headquarters.
The engagement brought together critical stakeholders to deliberate on emerging security challenges across the State, emphasising the importance of collaboration, cooperation, and synergy with relevant security agencies in combating insecurity and safeguarding lives and property.
While addressing the gathering, the State Commandant underscored the need for professionalism and strict compliance with operational guidelines governing Private Guard Companies. He noted that adherence to established regulations remains essential in maintaining a peaceful and secure environment across Sokoto State.
Commandant Ajayi urged PGC Heads to ensure their personnel are properly trained, well-equipped, and committed to providing effective security services while upholding professionalism and respect for human rights.
He further stressed the importance of adequate remuneration for PGC personnel, stating:
“Adequate remuneration promotes transparency, equity, and justice. Motivation is a key driver of success in any organisation, as it leads to positive outcomes.”
The Commandant also reiterated the necessity for PGC operatives to be properly kitted in their uniforms while on duty for clear identification.
Additionally, he emphasised the timely reporting of incidents by PGC personnel within their respective Areas of Responsibility (AOR) to the appropriate security agencies, highlighting that effective information-sharing enhances collective security efforts and ensures improved protection of lives and property.
The strategic engagement provided a platform for Private Guard Companies to express their concerns, share recommendations, and seek clarifications on regulatory issues, while the NSCDC offered guidance aimed at improving operational effectiveness.
The event marked a significant step towards strengthening partnerships, promoting the philosophy of Security Risk Assessment, and advancing the overall security architecture of Sokoto State.
