EXPERTS PROPOSE STRATEGIES TO CURB VANDALISM AND INFRASTRUCTURE DESTRUCTION AT NSCDC LAGOS 6TH PR CLINIC

Leading experts and seasoned professionals—including Keshinro, Oyenuga, Adisa, Oseni, Eniola, Boniface, Ojikutu, Cyndy, and Mary—were among the key speakers at the 6th edition of the NSCDC Lagos Public Relations Clinic.

The quarterly Public Relations Clinic, organized by the Public Relations Unit of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, serves as a strategic public engagement platform. The initiative aims to strengthen the Corps’ image and demonstrate its intellectual, strategic, and operational capacity in line with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values established by the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, PhD, mni, OFR. The goal is to position the NSCDC as one of Africa’s leading security agencies.

Top speakers at the event included the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro; Professor Adedeji Oyenuga of Lagos State University; Dr. Waziri Adisa of the University of Lagos; Mrs. Eniola Mayowa, FNIPR, Vice Chairman, NIPR Lagos Chapter; U.S. Army Veteran Mr. Abiodun Oseni; Dr. Ojikutu Adeniyi, former President of the Computer Village Association; Mr. Michael Boniface, Chief Security Officer, Sterling Bank; Hon. Olamilekan Ibrahim, former Chairman, Coker Aguda LCDA; Mrs. Mary Omonoyan, PRO, ICPC; Miss Cyndy Ezeh, On-Air Personality and Panel Moderator, along with panelists from SSS, FiberOne, ICPC, NCoS, FFS, and others.

The event, held on Tuesday, 2nd December 2025 at the Ministry of Works Conference Hall, TBS, Lagos, remains a formidable platform for intellectual exchange and capacity development. It offers personnel across NSCDC formations an opportunity to gain insights from seasoned experts aligned with the selected theme.

The 6th Edition of the Clinic was attended by the Lagos State Commandant, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, represented by Deputy Commandant of Corps Afuye Toyin. The lead lecture titled “Cyber Security: A Panacea to Ending Economic Sabotage in Nigeria – The Role of NSCDC” was delivered by Professor Adedeji Oyenuga, with Dr. Waziri Adisa serving as Lead Discussant.

Representing the State Commandant, DCC Afuye Toyin reaffirmed the NSCDC’s mandate in safeguarding critical assets and infrastructure. He stressed that integrating cybersecurity tools into operations is essential in combating vandalism, noting that the Corps has continued to invest heavily in training personnel to use modern technologies that enhance intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

Speakers emphasized practical approaches for deploying cybersecurity to strengthen the NSCDC’s mandates, including the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, marine and environmental protection, private security regulation, and safeguarding mining and mineral resources. They stressed that such measures are essential to ending economic sabotage nationwide.

Professor Oyenuga urged the Corps to collaborate with institutions within the cybersecurity ecosystem, increase public enlightenment efforts, and expand specialized cybersecurity training for personnel. Dr. Adisa highlighted the need for broader employment opportunities, youth empowerment, and the creation of a more enabling environment as long-term solutions to national security challenges.

The event summary was delivered by the Area B Commander, Assistant Commandant of Corps Michael Anerunoye, who encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained by enhancing their operational and administrative performance across formations.

The NSCDC PR Clinic continues to shape and refine the professionalism of personnel across the Corps and security stakeholders in Lagos State, addressing thematic issues that align with the Corps’ Mandate, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Code of Conduct, policy directives, and relevant national laws.
