…Keshinro issues stern warning to vandals and illegal dredgers across Lagos
In line with the strategic vision of the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, anchored on the three Cs: collaboration, cooperation, and coordination, the Lagos State Command has recorded another significant operational success.
On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, the Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Adedotun Keshinro, paraded over 4,000 litres of premium motor spirit (PMS) recovered from smugglers attempting to transport the product through illegal routes and waterways in the Badagry axis of Lagos State.
The operation followed credible intelligence received on Friday, November 7, 2025, by the Badagry Division, led by Chief Superintendent of Corps Ekunola Gbenga. Acting swiftly, the division intercepted criminal elements known for siphoning petroleum products in the area. Upon sighting the operatives, the suspects fled, abandoning approximately 150 kegs (25 litres each) and several Ragolis containers filled with PMS, as well as additional empty kegs ready for loading.
Commandant Keshinro also acknowledged the Nigerian Navy for handing over 73 kegs of PMS recovered in a separate operation to the NSCDC Badagry Division, highlighting the strong inter-agency collaboration between both security services in Lagos State.
While addressing the press, Commandant Keshinro warned all unrepentant vandals and economic saboteurs to desist from their criminal acts, especially during the end-of-year period when illegal activities often intensify. He vowed that such offenders would face stiffer resistance from the corps’ operatives.
The Commandant further cautioned illegal dredgers operating beneath the Third Mainland, Carter, and Eko Bridges to immediately halt their activities, stressing that such acts threaten the structural integrity of the bridges and endanger lives and critical national infrastructure.
He also reiterated the command’s commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure (CNAI) in Lagos State. As part of ongoing community engagement efforts, the command will launch its Lagos West Stakeholders Initiative on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, aimed at enhancing public awareness and collaboration.
The Lagos State Command assures residents of its unwavering commitment to working closely with other security agencies and stakeholders to prevent all forms of economic sabotage, ensuring the continued peace, safety, and security of Lagos State.
