NSCDC KOGI STATE COMMAND INAUGURATES OFANTE DIVISION TO STRENGTHEN GRASSROOT SECURITY

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command, has officially inaugurated the Ofante Division, in line with the vision and mission of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to enhance security operations at the grassroots level. This milestone aims to strengthen the Corps’ capacity to safeguard lives, properties, and Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) across the State.

Commandant Aletan Olumide E., who led the initiative, successfully upgraded the Ofante Outpost into a fully operational Divisional Office, meeting all necessary operational and structural standards. Located in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Ofante shares borders with Anambra, Benue, and Enugu States, making it a strategically important location for effective security coverage and rapid response.

Speaking during the inauguration, Chief Elder Dr. Ogwu Onoja (SAN) lauded the NSCDC for its visible impact in improving security within the community. He acknowledged a marked reduction in criminal activities since the Corps’ intervention and commended its proactive measures. Dr. Onoja expressed deep appreciation and urged the Corps to sustain its dedication and continue collaborating closely with local stakeholders.

Commandant Aletan Olumide in his address, extended heartfelt gratitude to Elder Dr. Ogwu Onoja James (SAN) for his generous support in funding and equipping the project prior to its official handover to the NSCDC. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation with the Corps’ personnel to ensure effective service delivery and continuous protection of lives, properties, and critical assets.

The Commandant also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in or contemplating criminal activities, advising them to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law. He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace, enforcing the law, and promoting safety through diligence, professionalism, and fairness.
