TROOPS NEUTRALIZE BANDITS IN RIJAU NIGER STATE

The Commander 18 Brigade and Sub Sector 2 Operations FANSAN YAMMA Brigadier General Ibrahim Babatunde Gambari has commended troops under his command for their professionalism resilience and tactical efficiency during a week long operation against violent extremists and bandits across Kontagora Mariga Rijau and Rafi Local Government Areas of Niger State.

According to the Commander the troops successfully engaged the criminals in several encounters neutralizing many of them with minimal or no casualties recorded on the side of the military in both personnel and equipment. He urged the soldiers to remain vigilant and courageous in confronting criminal elements whenever they attempt to infiltrate the Brigade Area of Responsibility.

General Gambari also acknowledged the invaluable support of the Air Component whose timely intervention through close air support and interdiction missions led to the neutralization of numerous bandits and the rescue of captives from their abductors.

He charged the troops to sustain the operational momentum and continue to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for residents and other law abiding citizens to carry out their daily activities without fear.

The Brigade Commander expressed appreciation to the General Officer Commanding 1 Division and Commander Sector 1 Operation FANSAN YAMMA for his strategic guidance leadership and consistent support to the Brigade throughout the operation.

General Gambari reaffirmed his commitment to upholding the operational standards and discipline that define the Nigerian Army noting that his troops would continue to work closely with other security agencies to achieve lasting peace in the region.

He concluded by assuring the GOC and other stakeholders that the Brigade remains fully committed to the fight against banditry terrorism and other forms of criminality in Niger State and beyond.
