The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Gombe State Command, has carried out a thorough post-incident investigation following a fire outbreak at the Female Hostel Annex of Gombe State University last week.

The assessment was led by ASF I Edogbanya Mathew Akoji from the Inspection, Investigation, and Enforcement (IIE) Department, with a team of officers examining the affected building to determine the probable cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage.

During the investigation, the team identified critical risk factors and provided professional recommendations to the university management. These recommendations focused on ensuring electrical safety compliance, proper storage practices, emergency response planning, safe handling of LPG, and enforcing comprehensive fire safety measures across the campus.

In line with its public safety mandate, the FFS team also engaged students on fire prevention strategies, safe handling of electrical appliances, and emergency response procedures. Students were encouraged to promptly report potential fire hazards to campus authorities.

The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property through proactive fire prevention, emergency preparedness, and rapid response efforts.
