Navy Dismantles Six Illegal Refining Sites in Delta

The Forward Operating Base (FOB), Escravos of the Nigerian Navy, has dismantled six illegal refining sites in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Commanding Officer of FOB Escravos, Navy Capt. Ikenna Okoloagu, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Warri.

He explained that the operation, carried out between September 3 and 24, followed credible intelligence reports that led to the discovery of the sites at Obodo Omadino Community.

The operation, which falls under Operation Delta Sanity II, aligns with the directives of the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ikechukwu Ogalla, to rid the nation’s maritime domain of illegal activities.

According to Okoloagu, the Navy seized approximately 11,550 litres of stolen crude oil stored in 52 dugout pits and seven polythene sacks.

He added that one pumping machine and about 22 yards of hose were also recovered during the raid.
