The Police Service Commission (PSC) has expressed deep shock over the passing of its former Chairman, DIG Parry Osayande (rtd.), describing him as an erudite and consummate police officer who distinguished himself both in service and leadership.
Osayande, who succeeded Chief Simon Okeke, the pioneer Chairman of the Commission, was appointed in April 2008 by then President Goodluck Jonathan. His tenure recorded remarkable growth for the Commission, including securing presidential approval for its corporate headquarters, now standing in the Jabi District of Abuja.
Renowned for his fearlessness, focus, and commanding presence, DIG Osayande provided strong leadership that gave the Commission significant mileage during its formative years.
Reacting to the news, the current Chairman of the Commission, DIG Hashimu Argungu, described Osayande’s death as a huge loss to the PSC and the nation at large. He urged Nigerians to keep the Commission in their prayers, noting that it is particularly painful to lose two of its former chairmen within just one month.
DIG Parry Osayande passed away early Sunday in Benin City, Edo State.
