6 Garrison Commander Visits Security Agencies, Calls for Stronger Collaboration

In a renewed drive to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, the Commander, 6 Division Garrison of the Nigerian Army (NA) and Commander, Sector 3 Joint Task Force (JTF), South South, Operation DELTA SAFE (OPDS), Brigadier General Abubakar Adamu Bello, paid courtesy visits to key security agencies in Rivers State on 25 September 2025.

Brigadier General Bello, who recently assumed duty, met separately with the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Olusola Aguda, and the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Joachim Okafor. During the visits, he stressed the importance of collaboration among security agencies, noting that enhanced synergy is vital to protecting national assets and ensuring stability.

At the DSS headquarters, the Commander emphasized that no single agency can solve security challenges alone. He urged the Service to reach out promptly on emerging threats and reaffirmed the Army’s readiness for seamless cooperation. In response, Mr. Aguda described Rivers State as relatively peaceful but highlighted persistent threats such as illegal oil refining, theft, and cult-related activities. He pledged continued intelligence sharing and operational support to strengthen joint efforts.

Similarly, at the NSCDC Command, Brigadier General Bello likened security agencies to parts of a single system, warning that rivalry or lack of cooperation weakens overall effectiveness. He expressed appreciation for the warm reception, while Commandant Okafor commended the Nigerian Army for its unwavering support to the Corps. Describing their relationship as that of “father and son,” he assured the Commander of NSCDC’s commitment to sustaining and improving inter-agency collaboration.
