
Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday handed over 25 Hilux vehicles to various security agencies in the State.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony, held at the Governor’s office car park, in Akure, the Governor emphasized the vital role that the security agencies play in safeguarding the lives and properties of the people of the State.
The Governor said: “As an integral part of government functionaries, it is no gainsaying that security agencies are pivotal to the overall security architecture of any society. This daunting task often requires patrolling from one location to another. To ease this important yet herculean function, we are providing these high-grade Toyota Hilux vehicles to enhance performance in the discharge of their security mandate.”
Commandant Ibiloye, the NSCDC State Commandant while addressing the press after the keys to the vehicles were handed over to him, appreciated the State government for the incentive and for prioritising security in the state. He assured the government and the good people of Ondo state of a more robust security services as this gesture of government will spur the Corps under his watch to do more.
“To whom much is given, much is expected.” He said.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Mr. Gbenga Atiba, and the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abayomi Oladipo, thanked the governor for providing the vehicles despite the high exchange rates, assuring that they will be used strictly for security purposes.
Those present at the event included the Deputy Governor, Dr. Olayide Adelami, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Prince Segun Omojuwa, State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Ade Adetimehin, members of the State Executive Council, Brigade Commander, Commissioner of Police, NSCDC Commandant, Director of DSS, Controller of Correctional , traditional rulers and religious leaders.
