Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have arrested two suspected kidnappers in Karim Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State, as clearance operations under Operation Lafiya Nakowa continue to intensify across the state.
Acting on credible intelligence, soldiers stormed a hideout in the Garau axis of Rafin Taba community on September 19, 2025. The raid led to the arrest of Ibrahim Umaru and Adamu Malam Musa, both alleged to have been involved in multiple kidnapping incidents within and outside Taraba.
Preliminary interrogation revealed that the suspects had participated in several abductions, during which large sums were collected as ransom. They also admitted to transferring some victims across state lines into Plateau, particularly around the notorious Madam Forest, to evade security patrols.
Commander of 6 Brigade/ Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and vigilance. He said the success demonstrates the resolve of the Nigerian Army to root out criminal elements threatening peace and socio-economic activities in Taraba and beyond.
He assured residents that operations will be sustained in collaboration with other security agencies until criminal networks are dismantled. The Army also urged the public to support security efforts with credible information, while warning criminal groups to abandon their activities or face decisive military action.
