Commandant Emmanuel A. Ajayi is the current Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Sokoto State Command. A seasoned security professional and operational tactician, Commandant Ajayi exemplifies leadership, discipline, and commitment to national service.

Originally from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State, his journey began in Sokoto State where he had his early education, forging a lasting connection with the region. He proceeded to the Federal School of Arts and Science, where he obtained his Higher School Certificate in 1988. He later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the former Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now known as Ekiti State University, in 1993. Upon completion of his studies, he participated in the National Youth Service Corps programme in Akamkpa, Cross River State, from 1993 to 1994.

Following a brief period in the private sector, Commandant Ajayi answered the call to public service, joining the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in 2005. He was among the pioneering officers of the Corps and was enlisted with the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Corps. Over the years, through dedication, discipline, and a deep sense of duty, he rose steadily through the ranks, attaining the rank of Commandant in 2024.

Throughout his illustrious career, he has served in several operational and administrative capacities across different states in Nigeria. He was formerly the Divisional Officer in Sokoto South and Illela Local Government Areas of Sokoto State, and also served in the Abia and Ondo State Commands respectively. Upon his return to Sokoto, he was appointed as Head of the Operations Department at the Sokoto State Command, where he demonstrated outstanding leadership and operational capacity. He later had a brief but impactful stint at Zone 10 Headquarters in Sokoto before his elevation to the position of State Commandant of the NSCDC Sokoto State Command on the 27th of August, 2025.

Commandant Ajayi is also committed to professional development and has continuously honed his expertise through participation in numerous courses and training programmes. He undertook specialised training in Cybersecurity and Disaster Management in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme. He also completed the Essential Skills for Effective Service Delivery course at the NSCDC Academy in Sauka, Abuja, and participated in Civil-Military Coordination training at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Centre in Jaji Barracks, Kaduna. His knowledge and practical skills in these areas have continued to enhance his effectiveness in various command roles.

He is an active member of the National Institute of Industrial Security as well as the International Institute of Professional Security. These affiliations reflect his dedication to upholding global standards in security operations and ethical leadership.

Commandant Ajayi is known within the Corps as a cerebral and empirical leader—respected not only for his strategic insight and operational expertise but also for his integrity, humility, and ability to inspire others. He has mentored many younger officers and is regarded as one of the most reliable and principled leaders in the service.

Outside of his official duties, he enjoys jogging, reading, and staying informed about current affairs. He is happily married to Mrs. Sherifat Akinrun Ajayi, and their union is blessed with six children.

With deep admiration and pride, we present Commandant Emmanuel A. Ajayi, an accomplished officer, exemplary leader, and one of the finest operational minds to emerge from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
