A historic milestone has been reached in the Federal Fire Service as Ijeoma Achi-Okidi has been appointed the first female Deputy Controller General (DCG) in the history of the organization.
Hailing from Abia State, DCG Achi-Okidi’s rise to the top ranks of the Fire Service marks a significant step forward for gender representation in public service. Her family background reflects a tradition of excellence—her elder sister notably served as a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior, adding to the legacy of service and leadership.
DCG Achi-Okidi was recently recognized with a prestigious award for her exemplary role as the National Coordinator of Female Officers in the Federal Fire Service. The honor highlights her tireless advocacy, mentorship, and commitment to empowering women within the ranks.
Beyond her professional achievements, she is also celebrated for her ability to balance the demands of public service with her role as a devoted wife and family woman. Her journey continues to inspire a new generation of female leaders in Nigeria’s security and emergency services.
Her historic appointment is being widely hailed as a turning point, not only for the Federal Fire Service but also for the broader national movement toward gender equity in leadership roles.
