The leadership of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Anambra State has visited the family of the late Stanley Anikpe, who was killed when a two-storey building collapsed at Ekeoyibo Market, Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area of the state.

The state commandant of NSCDC, Olatunde Maku, led a delegation of top management officials on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased on Tuesday.

Anikpe lost his life in the collapsed building, under construction while buying commodities in a market on Thursday. About three other victims were also killed in the collapsed building that trapped some others.

He said, “The visit is in response to the tragic demise of Anikpe, who lost his life in the collapse of a two-storey building under construction at Ekeoyibo market, Amawbia, in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Thursday, 4th July 2024.

“We conveyed our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, and the death is a shocking loss not only to the family but also to the NSCDC.

Maku assured the family that the Commandant-General and the Corps would ensure that the late Anikpe’s memories were not forgotten.

He also promised that the Command and the Corps would stand by the family during this difficult time, urging them to take solace in the fact that Anikpe lived a life worthy of emulation.

“On behalf of the Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi, we are deeply saddened by the loss of DSC Anikpe, whose services were still greatly needed by the Corps. We pray that the Lord Almighty grants you and your family the comfort and strength to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
