The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Professor. Ahmed Audi, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Lux Mundi University, Umuahia, as well as students from less privileged backgrounds.
Dr. Audi made this known on Thursday during the unveiling ceremony of the university’s Senate Building, which was named in his honour, as part of his operational visit to Abia State.
“This university is here to stay,” he stated. “We will do everything within our capacity to support its growth and also assist students from disadvantaged families. This commitment is especially important now, as we prepare to send some student nurses to the United States for internship opportunities in line with the belief that knowledge is power.”
As the alternate chairman of the university’s Board of Trustees, Professor. Audi encouraged the students to remain focused and committed to their academic pursuits.
He also commended Maria Santiago, CEO of the America Home Health Aid Training Institute, for her efforts in profiling the university’s pioneer batch of 53 students for a U.S.-based exchange programme.
In her remarks, Santiago expressed admiration for the institution, saying it exceeded her expectations.
“The university is far more than I imagined when I left the United States. I am truly overwhelmed, and words cannot fully describe how I feel,” she said. “When these 53 students arrive in the U.S., they will certainly return with valuable experiences and skills.”
Santiago, who was also conferred with the chieftaincy title Ugo Oma I of Afaraukwu (Beautiful Eagle of Afaraukwu), extended her best wishes to the university.
Speaking earlier, the founder and Pro-Chancellor of Lux Mundi University, Gabriel Okenwa, reiterated his unwavering dedication to societal advancement through quality education.
