Troops of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), operating under Operation Hadin Kai, have carried out precision airstrikes on terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.
The coordinated air raids, conducted on Sunday, July 6, 2025, specifically targeted hideouts believed to be occupied by senior Boko
Haram commanders.
In a statement released on Monday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed that the
strikes hit Wa Jahode and Loghpere—locations that have long served as fortified bases for the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad
(JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
According to Ejodame, surveillance and intelligence-gathering missions had earlier identified clusters of concealed structures in the
mountainous terrain, some equipped with solar panels, flying black flags, and reinforced for defense.
He further noted that the Mandara Mountains—situated along the Nigeria–Cameroon border—have recently witnessed increased terrorist
activity, including the movement of high-ranking JAS commanders and the buildup of logistics.
NAF deployed multiple strike aircraft in a series of coordinated air interdictions that successfully destroyed terrorist assets such as
logistics depots, command centres, and fortified shelters.
“These well-coordinated strikes neutralised several terrorists, significantly disrupting their operational capabilities,” Ejodame stated.
He reiterated NAF’s unwavering commitment to sustain pressure on terrorist elements and to support efforts aimed at restoring peace
across Nigeria’s conflict-affected regions.
