
Commandant Ishaku Musa, a respected officer of the Nigeria Security
and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and current Commandant of the Plateau
State NSCDC Command, has been named the recipient of the 2025
Outstanding Security Personality Award (Community Security
Collaboration) by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT
Council.
The award, one of the highlights of the NUJ’s prestigious annual Press
Week, recognizes exceptional contributions to national security, with
a specific focus on community engagement and inter-agency
collaboration.
According to the official letter of nomination, Commandant Musa was
commended as “an exemplary ambassador of the NSCDC,” lauded for his
unwavering dedication to duty, proactive leadership, and strategic
security partnerships across Plateau State.
“Your outstanding leadership and unwavering commitment to fostering
synergy between the NSCDC, traditional institutions, security
agencies, and the media in Plateau State have significantly
contributed to enhancing community security and building public
trust,” the NUJ wrote.
Under Musa’s stewardship, the Plateau State NSCDC Command has
pioneered innovative frameworks for community engagement, resulting in
stronger collaboration with local stakeholders and a substantial
improvement in the protection of lives, property, and national
infrastructure.
The NUJ further highlighted his role in addressing complex security
challenges: “Your proactive engagement in protecting critical national
infrastructure and fostering constructive relations between security
operatives and the press has set a high standard in today’s evolving
security environment.”
This year’s NUJ Press Week, themed “Journalism in a Changing World:
Press Freedom, Media, Democracy, and Society,” will culminate in an
awards ceremony.
The award recognizes Commandant Musa’s outstanding contributions to
sustainable security and inter-agency cooperation as the hallmarks of
a new era in Nigeria’s community-based security architecture.
