Ishaku Musa, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has issued a stern warning to dealers in the state to desist from patronising vandals of government electrical installations and other critical infrastructure. He emphasised the need for residents to work closely with security agencies in protecting public assets.

Speaking yesterday at the NSCDC State Headquarters in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, Commandant Musa stated that dealers in electrical hardware must no longer act as accomplices to criminals who steal government-owned transformers and other electrical installations—actions which continue to subject residents to hardship through prolonged power outages.

Commandant Musa said:

“It is criminality of the highest order for some callous and criminally-minded individuals to steal critical infrastructure meant for public benefit, all in a desperate bid to get rich at the expense of society. Let me seize this opportunity to warn that anyone caught conniving with these criminals—especially electrical hardware dealers, who are often lured into these illicit dealings—must desist immediately. As I speak, the NSCDC has activated its coded intelligence mechanism to ensure the apprehension of these criminals and their collaborators.”

He added:

“I want to implore the general public not to leave the business of security solely to security agencies. They should intensify their cooperation in safeguarding all critical government infrastructure within their communities.”
