NSCDC BENUE STATE COMMAND TRAINS SIXTY EIGHT PRIVATE GUARDS

CHARGES DIRECTORS OF COMPANIES TO PAY LIVING WAGES TO THEIR GUARDS

The Benue State Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has successfully concluded training and retraining of sixty eight guards across fifteen Private Guard Companies.

State Commandant, Commandant of Corps Alice Bitrus in her remarks during the passing out ceremony of the guards congratulated the Directors as well as the guards for compiling with the request to be trained, emphasizing that the training is aimed at improving and sharpening their capabilities.

The Commandant said this is in line with the statutory functions of the Corps in recommending to the Honorable Minister the registration of private guard companies, and from time to time, inspect the premises of private guard companies, conduct training, supervise, monitor their activities and keep a register for that purpose.

She further charged Directors and managers of private guard companies to prioritize the welfare of Guards by paying living wages, stating that this will enhance their productivity and efficiency.

The Commandant opined that as part of the strategizing efforts of the Command in repositioning the PGCs in Benue, arrangement are in top gear to also conduct training exercises for Directors and managers.

Further more, the State Commandant urge Directors to own and maintain a comprehensive database of all Guards in their Companies, this she said will improve accountability and guarantee professionalism.

Outlining the scope of the training exercise, Deputy Commandant of Corps, Stephen David, Head of Private Guard Companies Department to include PGC basic, history of security, disaster and first aids, gate manning, physical drills, modern tactical security practices, as well as handing and taking over duty.

Expressing the companies appreciation, the Chairman Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria, Benue State Chapter, Mr Shima De Nor, thanked the Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi OFR Mni for providing the conducive atmosphere for the Companies to be in business.
He pledge on behalf of the companies to put into use every knowledge acquired at the course of the training exercise.

The first batch of the training exercise was conducted within six weeks, and this will be accompanied with strict monitoring and supervision of the companies and their various guards.
