LAGOS NSCDC STRENGTHENS GBV PREVENTION, SHARES EXPERIENCE, IMPACT AT FIDA’S EVENT

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro was ably, represented, on a panel session, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer ( PRO ), Superintendent of Corps Oluwaseun Abolurin, at a Peer Learning / Experiential Sharing Dialogue, with the theme; “From Experience to Impact: Strengthening GBV Prevention through Shared Learning.”

The Command will continue to strengthen the prevention of Gender Based Violence ( GBV ), through proactive responses such as; campaigns, awareness, collaborations with relevant authorities, jingles, strategic communication, arrest of offenders and ensuring a transparent and smooth process during interrogations, just to mention a few.

The above position is to further re – affirm the Command’s zero tolerance for GBV cases reported to it in the state.

Amongst other things, the event witnessed, three series of panel sessions, inclusive of stakeholders from the Traditional Institutions, the Religious Bodies and the State Actors ( NSCDC, Lagos State Command).

The Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers ( FIDA ), Ikeja Branch, Veronica Eze, Esq also said in her statement that the ongoing discourse was aimed, at creating impactful and sustainable strategies to prevent and respond to Gender-Based Violence (GBV) at sub-national and grass root levels.

Present at the event include the following distinguished guests and panelists and moderators, amongst many others; The Chief Magistrate Osunsani Bio, Lagos State Judiciary, Mrs Alain Olafiasayo; Deputy Director Welfare, WAPA, Dr Grace Abolarin, Director Child Guidance, School Counseling and Special Education, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. Moderators include; Mrs Rita Abah Lasoju, National Assistant Manager, Programs and Partnerships and Mr Fikih Obaro, Senior Manager Program, Partnerships and Operations, both from FIDA Nigeria.

The event was organized, by International Federation of Women Lawyers ( FIDA ) Nigeria. It was held on Tuesday, 3rd, June, 2025, at Elomaz Hotel, Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos.
