
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025 received in audience the National Association of Scrap and Waste Dealers Employers of Nigeria (NASWDEN), North-West Region, Jigawa Chapter on a courtesy visit to the State Commandant, Bala Bawa Bodinga, at the Command Headquarters, Dutse.
The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and fostering mutual understanding between the Corps and key stakeholders in the scrap and waste management industry in order to combat the rising incidence of vandalism and illegal trading of critical national assets.
While speaking, the Chairman of the Association, who led the delegation, appreciated the NSCDC for its tireless efforts in securing public infrastructure and appealed for continuous support in sanitizing the sector by identifying and eliminating quack dealers who engage in unlawful activities under the guise of scrap business.
In his response, the State Commandant, , welcomed the delegation and commended them for recognizing the importance of the Corps in regulating and monitoring the sector. He reiterated the Corps’ commitment to working with the association in ensuring that only registered, verified, and law-abiding dealers operate within the state.
The Commandant further stressed that the Corps will intensify surveillance, inspections, and enforcement actions across the state, warning that any individual or group found in possession of vandalized or stolen public property under the pretext of scrap dealing will be prosecuted according to the law.
He urged the association to strengthen its internal monitoring system and maintain an up-to-date database of its members for effective coordination and partnership.
The visit ended with a renewed commitment from both parties to deepen cooperation in intelligence sharing, public sensitization, and enforcement of compliance within the scrap and waste management industry in Jigawa State.
