COMMANDANT JIBRIN IDRIS VISITS FRSC, SEMA, NEMA, AND NMDPRA TO STRENGTHEN SYNERGY AND DISASTER PREPAREDNESS

In a bid to foster collaboration and strengthen relationships with key security agencies and stakeholders, Commandant Jibrin Idris, State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Gombe State Command, embarked on a series of courtesy visits to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Agency (NMDPRA).
During the visits, Commandant Idris was warmly received by the heads of the respective agencies, who expressed delight at the gesture and pledged to continue working together to achieve common goals. At the FRSC, Sector Commander RS 3.2, CC Samson Kaura, highlighted the long-standing collaboration between FRSC and NSCDC, including joint operations, and assured the State Commandant of their commitment to further strengthen their synergy.
The State Commandant also met with the Executive Secretary of SEMA, Abdullahi Haruna Abdullahi; Hajiya Ummuna Ahmed of NEMA; and Engr Etamu Oson, representing the State Coordinator of NMDPRA, Mr Kelechi Ozozu. During these meetings, Commandant Idris briefed the agency heads on the formal deployment of the Gas Explosion Prevention System (GEPS), a proactive, technology-driven framework designed to tackle gas explosion threats and strengthen Nigeria’s disaster preparedness capacity. This groundbreaking initiative, jointly championed by NSCDC, NMDPRA, NEMA/SEMA, and the Nigeria Fire Extinguisher Control (NFEC), aims to significantly boost NMDPRA’s capacity to enforce safety standards, particularly under the Midstream and Downstream Oil and Gas Industry Service Permit (MDOGISP) framework. The agency heads welcomed the initiative, lauding its potential to save lives and properties by reducing gas explosion incidents.
In their separate responses, the agency heads commended Commandant Idris for his proactive approach to disaster prevention and management, and pledged to continue working together to achieve their shared goals. The visits concluded with photo sessions, solidifying the renewed synergy between the agencies.
