
The wife of the Honourable Minister of Interior, Mrs Abimbola Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has commended the Audi led Administration in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for enabling and encouraging gender inclusion since his assumption of office.
In a well articulated Keynote Address, the Interior Minister’s First Lady said women play spectacular role in nurturing the Society and shapening the future leaders from childhood to become responsible and reliable ambassadors as well as beacons of hope in the Nation.
Mrs Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo lauded the NSCDC Commandant General Dr Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni, OFR for his Gender sensitivity in appointments within the NSCDC which is a pointer to the fact that the female gender have the capacity to function effectively alongside their counterparts without fear or intimidation.
She commended the performance of the Combatant Special Female Squad in carrying out their duties most especially in the protection of schools and communities across the nation.
In her Address, Mrs Abimbola BTO congratulated the SFS on the 4th Anniversary attributing their successes to the Commandant General’s exceptional leadership which has visibly repositioned and reinvigorated the Corps to function optimally amongst other security agencies.
She further charged all personnel of the Special Female Squad across the federation to be diligent and dedicated stating that beyond the uniforms and the boots, they are peace makers,builders, and policy influencers.
Mrs. Tunji-Ojo further urged the Senior Officers amongst them to mentor junior female personnel in the agency and improve their skills to undertake leadership roles in policy making.
In his remarks, the NSCDC Boss hinted that the Female Strike Force was commissioned consequent upon the vulnerability of Schools and Institutions which resulted in the kidnapping and Abduction of Students and Teachers.
The CG expressed his appreciation on the effectiveness of the Female Squad in carrying out their duties without compromise.
“Notably, over 48 kidnap attempts have been foiled by the Female Squad across the federation”
In futherance, the CG re-assured the public of leveraging on prompt and credible intelligence tip-off received to forestall criminal attacks against Schools and Institutions in Nigeria.
Earlier, the National Commander of the Female Squad, Assistant Commandant Imonike Oluwakemi appreciated the CG for providing the needed training and logistics support to enhance the SFS operational achievements and tasked all the Female Squad Commanders in various States to apply high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
Other highlights of the ceremony include presentation of awards and goodwill messages by the President, Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN), Dr. Chris Adigun, and CEO School Hunters, a major Consultant with UN, Dr. Olusola Okpodu.
