Army repels bandit attacks in Zamfara’s Maru, Tsafe LGAs

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation FANSAN YANMA have successfully thwarted coordinated bandit attacks in Zamfara State’s Maru and Tsafe Local Government Areas on May 17, 2025.

According to a report by Zagazola Makama, the first incident occurred at around 9:30 AM when armed bandits launched an assault on Keta Town in Tsafe LGA, firing sporadically. Troops quickly responded and engaged the attackers in a fierce gun battle, eventually repelling them.

Later that day, at approximately 3:30 PM, another group of bandits invaded Dankurji Village in Unguwar Galadima, Dansadau District of Maru LGA. Tragically, 28-year-old Malam Audu was killed during the assault before the assailants fled the area.

A 12-year-old girl, Fatima Ibrahim, sustained injuries during the firefight and was immediately rushed to a medical facility, where she is currently recovering. No injuries or fatalities were recorded among the security forces.

The military operation continues to maintain a strong presence in the region to deter further attacks and restore peace.
