The Delta State Helmsman 0f the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Suleiman Jimoh has pledged the NSCDC’s result-oriented collaboration with the Joint National Transport Committee on Safety.
Commandant Jimoh disclosed this while receiving Mr. Mogbojuri Taiwo, the Chairman of the Committee established under the office of the National Security Adviser.
In his remark, Mr. Taiwo expressed gratitude to the State Commandant for making out time to receive him and his State executive despite his tight schedule.
He noted that the Joint task force was an initiative of the Presidency channelled through the office of the National Security Adviser.
”The initiative was born out of the desire of the Federal government to check the excesses of road transport users especially truck owners, haulage operators, heavy duty and articulated vehicle owners who now pose a threat to the facilities of government, National Assets and Infrastructures and security of lives of general road users.
The Joint task force operations therefore requires the collaboration of major stakeholders in the transport industry, relevant security agencies and the presidency to drive the needed enforcement that will bring about the desired level of compliance with the established laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when it comes to road usage, and this explains why your support and collaboration wih us is very crucial.” Mr. Taiwo explained.
Concerned by the mobility challenges being faced by the NSCDC Command, Mr. Mogbojuri Taiwo assured Commandant Jimoh that the Committee will make effort to solve the problem of mobility through Corporate Social responsibility.
Having gone to other relevant State actors in the security architecture, he sought for the collaborative support of NSCDC DELTA so as to be successful in their operations in Delta state.
”In alliance with the directive of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr Ahmed Audi, I promised the Committee our commitment to its success, we shall provide all the support within our capacity to assist the Committee.” said Commandant Jimoh.
