Navy Uncovers Illegal Bunkering Sites In Warri’s Omadino Community

Operatives of Operation Delta Sanity (ODS), a task force under the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta, have uncovered and dismantled multiple illegal bunkering sites in Omadino, an Itsekiri community in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The raid, which took place on Thursday, April 10, led to the discovery of refining ovens, five dugout pits, and several sacks filled with stolen crude oil, according to reliable sources.

The operation is part of the Navy’s ongoing clampdown on crude oil theft and environmental sabotage in the Niger Delta region.

The bust follows recent tensions in the community, where some Itsekiri youths and local leaders had publicly accused operatives of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited of unjustly targeting their area. They had denied the existence of illegal refining activities within their territory.

The Navy’s latest discovery, however, appears to contradict those claims and sheds new light on the extent of illegal oil operations in the region.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing to identify those behind the illegal refining and hold them accountable.
