Easter: Customs urges Nigerians to shun illicit trade

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has warned Nigerians to refrain from illicit trade as the global community marks the Easter celebration.

Comptroller-General of the NCS, Adewale Adeniyi, made the appeal in a statement on Friday by the Service’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada.

Adeniyi urged Nigerians to be law-abiding and shun all illegal trade activities, describing Easter as a time for reflection and renewal.

He said, “Let this day be a call to act rightly by avoiding illicit trade. Good actions build a strong economy based on mutual goodwill.”

Adeniyi described Good Friday as a moment to honour Christ’s sacrifice and consider how such goodness still shapes our everyday lives.

He wished all Nigerians, especially Christians, a peaceful Easter as they remember the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
