NSCDC DEPLOYS 750 PERSONNEL TO BEEF UP SECURITY DURING EASTER CELEBRATION IN AKWA IBOM STATE

To ensure that the Easter celebration is observed peacefully without security breaches, Akwa Ibom State Commandant, CC Bashar Kefas Hussaini has deployed 750 personnel to beef up security across the length and breath of Akwa Ibom State.

In his address to officers and men who mustered at the Command headquarters in Uyo on Friday morning shortly before deployment, Commandant Bashar directed that personnel be deployed to churches, events and recreational centers in Uyo and across the 31 LGAs of the State.

He further directed the Head of Operations to map out a patrol strategy to ensure that everywhere, particularly flashpoints on the Command’s crime map areas are impacted by NSCDC presence. Similarly, Area Commanders and Divisional Officers were mandated to take charge of their Areas of responsibilities and collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that there is safety and security in churches, events, and recreational centers all through this festive period and beyond.

According to the press release signed by the Command PRO, SC Friday Ekerete and made available to newsmen in Uyo, the State Commandant deployed men of the Armed squad, Anti-vandal squad, Agro-rangers, Female Strike force, Counter terrorism Unit, Operations, Disaster management unit and undercover operatives from the Intelligence and Investigations department.

The NSCDC boss admonished officers to act professionally especially when interfacing with members of the public and focus on preventing and curtailing crimes.

He urged Akwa Ibomites and Nigerians resident in Akwa Ibom State to go about their lawful engagements and celebrations moderately without fear and ‘ say something as soon as you see something, so that we can do something about it promptly ‘. He called for members of the public to continue to collaborate with security agencies in the sharing of intelligence to help keep Akwa Ibom State safe.

Comdt Bashar extended his warm felicitations to christians on the Easter celebration and urged all Nigerians to learn from the love and sacrifice which Easter exemplifies in the christiandom.
