Security of Nigeria, role of all citizens – Army Brigade Commander, Bello

The Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Army Ohafia and Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, OPUK, Brigadier General Hassan Bello has said that the security of the nation is the role of every all citizens of the country and not only for security agencies in the country.

Bello stated this when he received the Chief Operations Officer of the Geometric Power Company, Blessing Ogbe and his executive in his office at the Bde Headquarters, Ohafia.

The Commander who was responding to an appeal made by the Chief Operations Officer of Geometrics Power company concerning the activities of vandals, electricity thieves and about the attacks on the personnel of the company, said all citizens have a role to play in achieving a peaceful and secured Nigeria.

He said the visit by the executives of Geometrics showed the level of confidence organizations have in the activities and operations of the Nigerian Àrmy and the Armed Forces at large.

The Commander, 14 Brigade Nigerian Àrmy said that Geometrics Power company which generates and transmits electricity, is relevant to the Barracks considering that the Barracks has been without electricity for over five years.

Brig. Gen who further said he has made significant efforts to liase with key stakeholders on modalities to restore power to the Barracks, asked Geometrics to consider the plight of the Barracks community.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chief Operations Officer of Geometrics Power company, Blessing Ogbe thanked the Commander for granting his team audience and appreciated members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies for their sacrifices in ensuring peace and stability in Abia State and Nigeria at large.

Ogbe who solicited for strengthened collaboration with the 14 Brigade, emphasized key areas affecting their operations which include: vandalisation of key electrical installations and equipment, electricity theft/meter, even as lamented the attacks on personnel of Geometrics while on legitimate duties.

He noted that the company cannot operate without the efforts and support of security agencies.
