EDO NSCDC COMMANDANT DECLARES WAR ON ILLEGAL MINERS IN EDO NORTH, PAYS COURTESY CALL TO ROYAL FATHER IN IGARRA AND OSOSO

Commandant Agun Gbenga, Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Edo, says the command has declared war against illegal Miners in the state.

Commandant Agun stated this on Thursday 27th March 2025 in Igarra when he paid a courtesy call on the Otaru of Igarra kingdom, Oba Emmanuel Adeche Saiki II.

The commandant, who said his visit was to solicite for the support of the palace and the people of Igarra to Collaborate with the NSCDC to flush out illegal Miners from the Community.

” I am here with the Federal Mining officer in charge of South South (ZMO) we will be going round to check all Mining sites and ensure there are no Illegal Miners Operating in this Community, we work hand in hand with other security agencies to ensure that there is no Break down of law and Order” Commandant said.

The NSCDC Boss said he is in Edo North to ensure that lives and property of the citizens are safe and secured.

“I am in Edo to make sure the lives and property of citizens are secured and also to chase out Illegal Miners.
“At the NSCDC, one of our cardinal mandates is to protect the critical national assets. I want to tell Your Royal Highness, Edo command is committed to this mandate,” said the commandant.

The Zonal Mining Officer, South South Zone,Eng Ganiyu Ajibade also took time out to enlighten the Traditional ruler and his Chiefs on the dangers of allowing illegal Miners to operate in their Community.

Responding, Oba Emmanuel Saiki ll prayed for the Commandant and assured him of the palace support at all time.

“We have so many Solid Minerals in Akoko edo, these Illegal Miners are really causing problem in our Communities, I am happy you are here to help us flush them out.” Said the Oba.

The door of the palace, the paramount traditional ruler, said was open for any assistance that was within
his reach.

He sought the guidance of the ancestors for the head of the NSCDC in the state in the discharge of his duties.
Commandant Agun was joined on the visit by senior officers of the command, including the Zonal Mining officer in charge of South South zone, Eng Ganiyu Ajibade.

In a related Development, Commandant Agun Gbenga payed a working visit to the Olososo of Ososo His Royal Highness Comrade Bamidele Obaitan.

“It is my pleasure to be before you and also to familiarise my self with your Community,there are Community clashes in this area because of illegal Mining activities.

“We are here to make sure that illegal Miners are flushed out from this area, it is our duty to protect Mining sites,we have our Mining Marshals and they are all over the State,we solicit for your support so we can achieve our Objective,” CC Agun declared.

Responding: His Royal Highness Comrade Bamidele Obaitan welcomed the Commandant and his team to Ososo Kingdom.

” We are know for tourism, great people come to our land for holidays, we are also loaded woth Solid Minerals, we have no business with poverty,” the king said.

Obaitan told the commandant that the only thing he needs is peace and equity in Ososo, people are busy trying to course problem in my Community, please I need your support to help bring these Criminals to Justice.

Commandant Agun assured the Monarch that he will do everything within his powers to restore peace in Ososo kingdom.
