The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Dr. Ahmed Audi, on Wednesday commissioned the newly renovated NSCDC Federal Capital Territory Command Headquarters Quarter Guard.
During the ceremony, Audi addressed the officers and personnel of the command, urging them to avoid inter-agency rivalry and foster stronger collaboration with other security agencies.
The CG noted the importance of respecting boundaries and leveraging the knowledge and experiences of officers from established agencies.
Audi called on the personnel to maintain humility in their duties, reminding them that intimidation and accidental discharge would not be tolerated under the corps’ standard operating procedures.
He also urged the officers to remain dedicated to safeguarding Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, which are crucial for national security.
“Do not envy your brothers; rather, leverage the experiences of officers and agencies that have been there for years and learn from them.
“Humble yourself. Do not embarrass the corps by ensuring you don’t intimidate anyone as accidental discharge is not acceptable according to the standard operating procedures of the corps,” he said.
The CG further explained that the quarter guard is a symbol of regimental discipline, highlighting its importance in maintaining the corps’ image.
He encouraged the FCT Command personnel to maximise the use of the quarter guard, particularly in commissioning dignitaries during visits, to reflect well on the service.
“Quarter guard is a highly regimented exercise that is precisely used to commission dignitaries during visits.
“This is commendable as I urge you to put it to use maximally so that the service will be portrayed in a good manner,” he said.
Audi also commended the leadership of the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, for his exemplary role in positioning the corps effectively within the territory.
He praised Odumosu’s strategic direction and assured him of the management’s continued support in advancing the corps’ goals.
Also, the FCT Commandant during the commissioning of the newly upgraded Divisional Headquarters for Bwari Area Council on Wednesday highlighted that, since assuming office, his leadership had prioritised improving operational infrastructure, such as the creation of new divisions, area commands, and several observation posts to strengthen local security responses.
Odumosu reflected on how partnerships with local governments, traditional leaders, and the grassroots have been essential to achieving these goals.
“This little but very important project was achieved as a result of synergy and cordial relationship the command maintains with all the Area Councils’ administrations, traditional rulers and the people at the grassroot,” he noted.
