NSCDC CG Orders Deployment Of More Operatives To Bwari Strengthen Security

The Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Abubakar Ahmed Audi, on Wednesday ordered the deployment of more personnel to strengthen security in Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory, vowing to rid Abuja of kidnappings and other criminal activities.

He gave the directive at the inauguration of the NSCDC Bwari Divisional Headquarters edifice, which was donated to the FCT Command by the Bwari Area Council to enhance the operation of the Corps in the Council.

Bwari Area Council has been identified as one of the black spots for kidnapping activities in the FCT, but the NSCDC boss, speaking at the event, said with the provision of accommodation by the Area Council, it was only necessary to deploy more officers to the Council in line with the ongoing efforts to rid Abuja of criminals.

Earlier, Audi commissioned the newly remodelled NSCDC FCT Command headquarters Quarter Guard, where he charged officers and men of the Command to rededicate themselves to duties and embrace discipline.

He commended the Bwari Area Council chairman, Hon. John Gabaya, for the gesture, “with the provision of this conducive office accommodation, we will post more personnel to this area.

“Perhaps if you have been following the trajectory of how events unfold, you will have seen that even the crime rate is going down in FCT because the government has been trying to provide an enabling environment for that, coupled with the hard work of the security personnel,” he stated.

Audi, while addressing officers and men of the FCT Command after the inauguration of the remodelled Quarter Guard, charged personnel against inter-agency rivalry and called for strengthened synergy.

He urged personnel to leverage the already existing relationships between security agencies by respecting boundaries.

“Don’t envy your brothers; rather leverage the experiences of officers and agencies that have been there for years and learn from them.

“Humble yourself, don’t embarrass the Corps by ensuring you don’t intimidate anyone as accidental discharge is not acceptable according to the standard operating procedures of the Corps,” he said.

The CG called on officers to be committed to the discharge of their duties while adequately protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI).

While inaugurating the Quarter Guard, Audi said that “Quarter Guard” symbolised regimental discipline which was essential for the image of the Corps.

“Quarter Guard is a highly regimented exercise that is precisely used to commission dignitaries during visits.

“This is commendable as I urge you to put it to use maximally so that the service will be portrayed in a good manner,” he said.

He commended the NSCDC FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, for his exemplary leadership roles in ensuring the Corps was strategically positioned in the territory.

“As a leader, you should be able to impact the lives of your subjects; Dr Odumosu knows where he is going, and the management of the Corps is proud of you and will continue to support you,” Audi said.

NSCDC FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, in his remarks, applauded the Bwari Area Council administration for the donation of a commodious office building to the Corps, recalling that in October last year, he visited the chairman, Hon. John Gabaya, to chart a course for better synergy in tackling insecurity in the Area Council.

He added that the office building being commissioned was in fulfilment of a request for his assistance in making the NSCDC Bwari Divisional office conducive and befitting for officers to work.
