Segun Onifoto, NSCDC’s Efficient Paparazzo Tells His Story

As the week drew to a close, I had the honor of witnessing and documenting a powerful moment of leadership in action—the Commandant General’s operational tour to the Niger Delta, this time in Delta State.

This was more than just an official visit; it was a mission of inspiration, a call to duty, and a reaffirmation of commitment. In the heart of Nigeria’s oil-rich region, where the waters run deep and the stakes are high, the CG stood among the brave men and women who serve onshore and offshore, protecting the lifeblood of our nation’s economy.

In a defining moment of the tour, the CG did not just address the squad with words—he led by example. To inspire and motivate his officers, he dropped to the ground and led a push-up session, a powerful act that spoke volumes. It was a message of resilience, discipline, and shared strength. The squad responded with energy, their voices echoing in unity as they pushed through each repetition, driven by the leadership of a man who does not merely command but stands with them in every sense.

With every handshake, every word of encouragement, and every moment of shared purpose, he reminded them that their sacrifices matter. He spoke of resilience, of duty beyond self, and of the honor in service. In his presence, spirits were lifted, determination was reignited, and the flame of patriotism burned even brighter.

Through my lens, I captured not just faces, but stories—stories of courage, perseverance, and the unwavering commitment of those who stand as silent guardians of our national wealth. These are the unsung heroes, stationed far from home, braving the elements, and keeping watch so that our nation remains strong.

Moments like these remind me why I do what I do. Photography is not just about images; it is about preserving history, amplifying voices, and inspiring generations. And on this journey, I am grateful to be a storyteller of resilience, duty, and hope.
