REMAINS OF LATE SERGEANT FATAI SONEYIN LAID TO REST WITH FULL MILITARY HONOURS

The Nigerian Army has laid to rest the late Sergeant Fatai Soneyin with full military honours, in line with the esteemed tradition of honouring fallen comrades by the service.

The burial took place on 19th February 2025 at his residence in Aroromakinde, Oyo State. The solemn ceremony was conducted with dignity and precision, reflecting the Army’s deep respect for the service and sacrifice of the late sergeant. It was a befitting farewell for a dedicated soldier who served his country with honour and commitment.

The late Sergeant Soneyin was deployed with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion VIII. On 17th February 2025, he tragically collapsed while playing volleyball with his colleagues.

Despite being swiftly evacuated to the unit’s Medical Reception Station and later to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, he sadly passed away.

My deepest condolences to his family, the Directorate of Army Public Relations, 6 Division and the entire Nigerian Army community. May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen.
