In a significant move towards addressing the pressing security challenges in Plateau State, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division and Commander of Operation SAFE HAVEN, paid a courtesy visit to the Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Dr. Jacob Buba Gyang, at his palace in Jos. The visit emphasized the crucial role of traditional institutions in fostering peace and resolving conflicts in the region.

During the visit, Major General Oyinlola called upon the traditional rulers to lend their support in a concerted effort to tackle the cycle of violence that has plagued Plateau State. He stated, “As the Chairman of the Plateau State Council of Traditional Rulers and Emirs, your leadership is instrumental in paving the way towards lasting peace in this region. I want to take this moment to acknowledge your immense contributions thus far and solicit your support in our collective endeavor to achieve a peaceful and prosperous Plateau State.”

Acknowledging the multifaceted nature of insecurity, Major General Oyinlola proposed a dual approach to addressing the issue, advocating for the implementation of both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies. He lamented the rise of illegal mining activities, describing it as a significant contributor to the alarming rate of school dropouts in Plateau.
