COMMANDANT AHMAD RECEIVES THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, ISA WALI EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVE

In a bid to create a supportive environment for Civil Society Organizations and other non-governmental organizations working for the betterment of the people in Katsina State, the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Katsina Command, Commandant Aminu Datti Ahmad, fsf, MADM, met with the Executive Director of the ISA Wali Empowerment Initiative, Mrs. Amina Hanga, on Monday, February 10th, 2025, at the State Command Headquarters in Katsina Metropolis.

In her address, Mrs. Hanga emphasized that the Initiative aims to equip young women and girls with the information, knowledge, and skills necessary for financial independence, enabling them to actively contribute to their communities. She further highlighted that this noble objective drives the Initiative’s efforts to build community power to end child marriage in their areas. Mrs. Hanga underscored the importance of collaboration with relevant stakeholders and the need for security agencies to assist in achieving these goals.

In her final remarks, Mrs. Hanga urged the Corps to sustain the significant progress made, particularly in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV) and other crimes that threaten the peace and prosperity of society.

Commandant Ahmad, in his response, expressed appreciation for the Initiative’s dedication to combating child marriage, especially in the northern region of Nigeria. He reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC Katsina Command to support the Initiative in reaching its objectives. The Commandant also, reaffirmed the commitment and determination of the Commandant-General, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, mini, OFR, to address GBV, noting that a robust unit has been established across all formations to tackle this critical issue in society.
