NSCDC PARADES SUSPECTS ALLEGEDLY INVOLVED IN ILLEGAL DEALINGS OF CANNIBIS WITH BANDITS

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, under the visionary leadership of Commandant General Dr. AA Audi is poised to be fair and transparent in service delivery to the nation.

In light of this, Zamfara state command promised to pursue all cases of criminal conspiracy and banditry with utmost integrity.

The state command under the adept management of CC Sani Mustapha brings before you a suspect apprehended in possession of large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be cannabis (hemp) in Shinkafi LGA of Zamfara State.

The suspect by name Kasimu Abubakar ‘M’ (40yrs) was arrested Thursday, 6th February, 2025 at around 1600hrs (4:00pm) in Shinkafi LGA.

Prior to his arrest, Intelligence information from Lagos state hinted the dispatch of the substance meant for Zamfara state and the state command ensured the parcel is intercepted and not delivered to the suspected black spots.

During the preliminary investigation, Kasimu Abubakar confessed and confirmed the following findings:

  1. Seventy (70) packs concealed in the parcel acquired for the sum of 1,050,000.
  2. Each pack cost 15,000.00,
  3. To be sold for 25,000.00 per pack,
  4. Totalling 1,750,000.00 yielding an interest of 700,000.00,
  5. He conspired and involved in this illegal business of substances.
  6. The cannabis were intended for a bandit group at Mashema village of Zurmi LGA.,
  7. The suspect offered a bribe of 1,000,000.00 to Shinkafi Divisional Corps Office in order to dismiss the case which was utterly rejected.

Investigation carried out further revealed two (2) accomplices by name Zayyanu and Ashiru; the state command is on the lookout and once apprehended, the press and the general public shall be updated.

In fairness, transparency and collaboration with sister agencies, the state commandant has directed the immediate handover to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further necessary investigation and prosecution.

The command has zero tolerance to corruption and criminality; any suspect apprehended shall face prudent investigation and upon completion, arraigned to a competent court of law for prosecution.
