NSCDC operatives arrest four suspected bandits, fraudsters in Nasarawa 

 

The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have arrested four suspected bandits, kidnappers and fraudsters as parts of on-going operations against fleeing members of terrorists groups in the country. 

The arrest was carried out by the NSCDC Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad operating alongside sister agencies to combat economic sabotage and fight insecurity across the federation. 

The Sqaud arrested 3 suspects who were involved in illegal possession of firearm, and investigated for gunrunning, kidnapping, banditry and a Job racketer.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the NSCDC, Babawale Afolabi, the operatives recovered from the suspects 2 automatic riffles with three magazines; an AK47 with 15 live ammunition, one FN riffle with two live ammunition, one live cartridge with nine locally fabricated pistols, one bionet, and two pair of Nigerian Forest Security Services uniform, among others items.

Afolabi said in a statement that the three suspects, Umar Ibrahim, Nura Abubakar, and Mohammed Sule were all arrested at Ukoso Komva Ward, Wamba Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

He said the intelligence squad also arrested a 62-year-old Felix Clerkson for his involvement in job racketeering.

Preliminary Investigations led to the recovery of over 120 fake letters of appointment into the NSCDC from him, Afolabi said. 

The PRO explained that Felix who was picked up at Nasarawa Eggon in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State following a tip off, admitted to have defrauded desperate and unsuspecting victims to the sum of over 26 million naira.

Our ongoing investigation however revealed that the suspect has swindled his victims to the tune of fifty five million Naira (N55,000,000:00) part of which he shared with his accomplices currently at large, Afolabi said. 

He added that all the suspects would be charged to court on completion of investigation.
