Nigerian Navy Intercepts Stolen Crude, Refining Equipment In Bayelsa

The Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, SOROH, has deactivated an insertion site that contained six wooden canoes, a generator, wires, and pipes, located in Igbomatoru, Bayelsa State.

In a statement on Facebook on Monday, the Nigerian Navy disclosed that the operation took place on Thursday, 5 December 2024.

The statement further revealed that on Friday, 6 December 2024, the NNS SOROH patrol team intercepted and seized two wooden boats carrying numerous sacks of illegally refined AGO in the Kongo axis of Bayelsa State.

“Lastly, on Thursday, 12 December 2024, NNS SOROH personnel discovered and confiscated 2 canoes laden with an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil and a metal drum in Igbomatoru community, Bayelsa State,” the statement said.

These operations highlight the Nigerian Navy’s continued commitment to combating illegal activities, such as oil theft and illicit refining, in the Niger Delta region.
