The exercise was aimed at assessing the cleanliness, physical condition and operational preparedness of the facilities.
During the visit to Area Commander A’s Office, Yabo expressed dissatisfaction with the poor state of cleanliness, the need to renovate the detention cell and the condition of the tattered national flag. He stressed that offices occupied by security personnel must reflect discipline, professionalism and a commitment to maintaining acceptable standards.Consequently, the commandant directed that the Area Commander be queried over the identified lapses, emphasising that officers in leadership positions must take responsibility for the maintenance and appearance of their facilities. At the Birnin Kebbi Divisional Office, Yabo also expressed displeasure with the condition of the premises and directed the Divisional Officer to complete the necessary renovation works within seven days.
He warned that failure to meet the deadline would attract further action. He equally ordered the replacement of the worn out flag and directed that the Divisional Officer be queried over the unsatisfactory condition of the office. However, the commandant commended personnel at the Kalgo Divisional Office for maintaining a clean and orderly working environment.
Despite the commendation, he directed the replacement of the portrait of the former commandant and the worn out flags to ensure that the facility complied with the required standards. No query or disciplinary recommendation was issued against the Divisional Officer. At the Anti Vandalism Unit, Yabo expressed satisfaction with the general condition of the office and commended the personnel for their efforts in maintaining the facility. He identified a damaged section of the ceiling as requiring attention and directed that a letter of commendation be issued to recognise the officers’ commitment to proper maintenance.
The commandant also raised concerns over the failure of some personnel to appear in their complete uniforms. He reiterated that proper dressing, discipline and professionalism were compulsory requirements for all NSCDC officers and men, warning that indiscipline and unprofessional conduct would not be tolerated.Yabo was accompanied during the inspection by several deputy commandants, including the officer serving as the command’s second in command, as well as other senior officers.Reaffirming his commitment to effective administration and operational efficiency, the commandant said all Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and heads of units must ensure that their offices remain clean, functional and properly maintained.
