The Rivers State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant Dennis Lesor Reuben, has charged officers and personnel of the command to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, dedication and diligence in the discharge of their duties.
Commandant Reuben gave the charge on Monday during the Command’s weekly Muster Parade, where he warned personnel against any action capable of bringing the Corps into disrepute or tarnishing its image.
The State Commandant commended officers and men of the command for their commitment, cooperation and contributions to the growth and development of the NSCDC in Rivers State. He urged them to sustain the momentum and remain focused on delivering effective service to the public.
As part of efforts to enhance capacity building, Reuben disclosed that he had approved the deployment of 10 officers to Abuja for specialised training.
He revealed that the command had provided the necessary logistics and support to ensure the success of the training programme.
Speaking on personnel welfare, the Commandant drew attention to the ongoing NSCDC housing scheme currently available to Deputy Commandants and Assistant Commandants. He explained that the initiative would also be extended to other interested officers upon payment of a 10 per cent equity contribution, describing the scheme as part of efforts to improve staff welfare and encourage home ownership among personnel.He also informed officers about the acquisition of official passports for senior officers, noting that the documents would facilitate international travel and official engagements.
According to him, the passports provide access to several countries under existing diplomatic arrangements.On discipline, Reuben expressed concern over reports of some personnel engaging in unauthorised assignments and warned that any officer found carrying out duties without proper approval would face the consequences in line with the Corps’ regulations and disciplinary procedures.
The Commandant further announced plans to strengthen the Command’s band unit through continuous professional development. He disclosed that 25 members of the band team had been scheduled for refresher training in Abuja and had already been provided with three sets of new uniforms each to enhance their appearance and professionalism during official functions.In addition, he revealed that a Toyota Sienna bus would be made available to the band team upon completion of the training programme to improve their mobility and operational efficiency during official engagements.Reuben also reaffirmed his commitment to the welfare of personnel, particularly the families of officers who paid the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. He disclosed plans for sustained support to the children and dependants of fallen officers as part of measures to honour their service and sacrifice.He urged all personnel to remain loyal, disciplined and dedicated to the ideals of the Corps, stressing that professionalism, integrity and teamwork remain critical to the effective discharge of the NSCDC’s mandate in Rivers State.
The Muster Parade underscored the Commandant’s commitment to personnel welfare, capacity development, discipline, operational excellence and the continued advancement of the NSCDC in Rivers State. He encouraged officers and men of the command to remain steadfast in their duties and contribute meaningfully to the success of the Corps.
