Bola Ahmed Tinubu has held a high level security meeting with the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), at the Presidential Residence in Lagos as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and consolidate gains recorded in the fight against insecurity across the country.The strategic meeting focused on a comprehensive review of Nigeria’s defence architecture, the progress of ongoing military operations against insurgency, banditry and other security threats, as well as measures aimed at enhancing inter agency collaboration in safeguarding the nation.
During the engagement, President Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the growing successes being recorded by the armed forces and other security agencies in securing vulnerable communities and restoring stability in troubled areas. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to providing the necessary support and resources required to sustain the momentum of ongoing security operations.
The President also underscored the importance of continuous coordination among security institutions, stressing that national security remains a top priority of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.Briefing the President, the Minister of Defence provided an update on key defence initiatives, operational developments across various theatres of operation, and efforts being undertaken to enhance the effectiveness of the military
The briefing also covered plans to improve troop welfare, modernise military equipment and strengthen defence infrastructure nationwide.
General Musa commended President Tinubu for his steadfast support for the nation’s security agencies and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
He assured Nigerians that the Ministry of Defence remains committed to implementing policies and programmes designed to improve national security and protect the country’s territorial integrity.
The Defence Minister further reiterated the determination of the military and other security agencies to sustain ongoing offensives against criminal elements, while consolidating recent gains achieved in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other forms of violent crime.
The meeting is part of President Tinubu’s regular security consultations and policy coordination engagements with senior government officials aimed at ensuring timely responses to emerging security and economic challenges confronting the nation.
Observers say the engagement reflects the administration’s continued focus on strengthening national defence capabilities and maintaining peace, stability and development across Nigeria.
