The Mining Marshals have launched a fresh enforcement operation in Nasarawa State to dismantle illegal mining activities, protect licensed operators and secure the state’s mineral resources from unauthorised exploitation.

The operation, which followed intelligence reports and complaints about unlawful mining activities, involved a coordinated deployment of the Mining Marshals, officials of the Federal Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, operatives of the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Police Force and community-based security personnel.

The enforcement team targeted mining sites where operators were allegedly extracting minerals without proper authorisation or outside approved mining coordinates, as authorities stepped up efforts to enforce compliance across the solid minerals sector.

Commander of the Mining Marshals, Assistant Commandant of Corps Attah John Onoja, who supervised the operation, said the exercise was part of the Corps’ nationwide campaign to curb illegal mining and ensure that Nigeria’s mineral resources are exploited in accordance with the law.
