The State Commandant, Nigeria Security And Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), lmo state command, Mathew Ovye has played host to the sector commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Imo state sector Command, Corp Commander Anthony O Uga and the Area Director, South East, Area Office 2, NYSC Mr. Andrew Zemoh.
The two events took place at the state headquarters of the command though in different hours but on the same day (Wednesday 21st August, 2024).
The sector commander and his lieutenants visited the command by 10:00hrs while the second guests (Area Director and his members of entourage) visited the state command by 12:30hrs.
It is germane to note that the two visits were centered on strengthening of synergy among the three agencies.
Speaking during the visit, *Mr Uga* commended the outstanding reception given to him from the inspection of quarter guard to the visit proper at the state Commandant’s office.
In his words, *the Sector Commander* said *”I have come to ask for your support, cooperation and collaboration to ensure that sanity and peace are maintained across the state”*
*Mr. Uga* further stressed that FRSC and NSCDC have come a long way in inter agency cooperation, pledging that the command under his watch will always assist officers and men of NSCDC in acquiring Driver’s license speedily without any form of delay.
Responding to the sector commander’s speech, *Commandant Ovye* appreciated the sector commander and his team. according to the NSCDC Boss, the visit was historic and unprecedented because NSCDC needs FRSC just as FRSC needs NSCDC to function effectively.
*Mr. Ovye* also showed the Corps readiness to partner with FRSC. Our doors are opened, 24/7 to always welcome FRSC. He concluded by thanking the sector commander for accepting to help his men to acquire a driver’s license speedily, saying that it’s a true esprit de corps.
In a similar development, the Area Director, South East Area Office 2, NYSC, *Mr Andrew Zemoh* who is new in the state while presenting his speech also requested for the partnership of the command especially before, during and after the NYSC orientation camp, asking for the already existing synergy to continue and never to go down in his time.
The state commandant while acknowledging the visit of the Area Director and his members of entourage stated that the protection of NYSC is one of the core mandates of NSCDC, adding that NYSC remains one of the critical national assets of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as such must be protected by NSCDC not only in Imo State but across the Federation.
“It is our duty to protect NYSC infrastructures, staff and corps members”
He further stressed that the synergy between NSCDC and NYSC can never be over emphasize since it’s a national programme that involves youths all over Nigeria.
We shall leave no stone unturned as we discharge our duties, we must maintain a robust synergy because the *Commandant General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi mni OFR* has given all the state commands orders to make adequate postings of officers and men of NSCDC to every NYSC orientation camp in Nigeria for provision of water tight security, before, during and after the NYSC orientation camp
