The Wuye Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, has foiled two separate vehicle theft attempts in Abuja and arrested two suspects in connection with the incidents.

Police sources disclosed that the first incident occurred at about 10:25 a.m. on September 12, 2026, following a distress call from the National Stadium, Abuja. A patrol team led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Wuye Division, CSP Yetunde Agana, swiftly responded to the scene.

On arrival, one Samson Ugan of B1 Kaduna Court, Gadowa Estate, Abuja, reported that a suspect, identified as Chris Okoye, 32, of No. 18A Manage Lasisi Street, Jos, Plateau State, had allegedly broken into his Nissan van with registration number NSR 222 AA, which was parked within the stadium premises. The suspect was reportedly caught in the act while attempting to steal the vehicle and valuables kept inside it.

The police team arrested the suspect at the scene and recovered exhibits linked to the attempted theft. He was subsequently taken into custody while investigations commenced.

In a separate operation later the same day at about 11:45 p.m., the Wuye Division received another distress call from Bashir Mohammed of Kuchigoro, Abuja, reporting a suspected vehicle theft. A police surveillance team was immediately deployed to the location.

The team arrested Samuel Isaiah Adado, who was found in possession of a Mercedes-Benz C300 with registration number RSH 777 DJ, ash in colour. Police said the suspect was allegedly attempting to deactivate the vehicle’s security system using a mobile phone when he was apprehended. He has been detained, while investigations into the matter are ongoing.
