CHAIRMAN YORUBA COUNCIL OF OBAS AND CHIEFS PAYS HISTORIC VISIT TO GOC 1 DIVISION

His Royal Highness, Oba Mohammed Arigbabuwo, Chairman Yoruba Council of Obas and Chiefs in the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, today 21 August 2024 paid a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation WHIRL PUNCH Major General Mayirenso Saraso.  The visit, which took place at the Headquarters 1 Division, marked an important moment of unity and collaboration between traditional institutions and the  Division.

In his remarks, Major General  MLD Saraso expressed his profound pleasure in welcoming His Royal Highness and his delegation. He emphasized the vital role that influential societal figures, like the Chairman and his council, play in supporting the Nigerian Army(NA) efforts. Major General Saraso highlighted the importance of every resident of Kaduna and beyond in contributing to the peace and security of the nation. He also reaffirmed the NA’s commitment to maintaining strong ties with her immediate community, highlighting some of  the non-kinetic means and the Civil-Military Cooperation activities that foster meaningful engagement with the general public. 

The GOC specially thanked the Chairman for the pivotal role the Yoruba Council of Obas and Chiefs played in promoting peace and unity among the people  particularly during the #EndBadGovernance protest in the Kaduna state.

Earlier in his remarks, His Royal Highness Amb Mohammed Arigbabuwo expressed his gratitude to the GOC for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage. He acknowledged and applauded the effective and well-coordinated operations carried out by the NA, which he said have yielded significant results in combating terrorism , insurgency, banditry and other crimes.  He  equally  thanked the Division for its professional role during the recent #EndBadGovernance protest and assured the GOC of the Council’s continued prayers and support for the NA and the nation at large .The Chairman also underscored the belief that through collective efforts, a progressive and peaceful society can be built.

Highlights of the visits were signing of the visitors book, presentation of souvenir, special prayers for the Division and the NA as well as  group photographs.
