The GOC thanked the Sector Commander and reassured him that collaboration with other security agencies is a  mandate given by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, as aptly captured in his command philosophy, which is “To transform the NA into a well trained, equipped and highly motivated force towards achieving our constitutional responsibilities within a joint environment”. Speaking further, Corps Commander, Umoh  stated that the Nigerian Corps of Engineers was the first to organise a road safety campaign to road users in 1972. This was prior to the  establishment of the Corps in 1988. The new Sector Commander further reiterated that the Corps cannot do or write its history, without the NA.
