The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, has arrested two suspects over their alleged involvement in the theft of a motor vehicle and an attempt to dispose of the stolen property.

The arrests were made by operatives of the Command under the leadership of Commandant Brah Samson Umoru following credible intelligence that led security personnel to a mechanic workshop along Secretariat Road in Shabu, Lafia North Development Area of Nasarawa State.

The suspects, identified as Adamu Mohammed, 68, and Emmanuel Omaku, 32, were apprehended on August 21, 2026, while allegedly negotiating the sale of a vehicle suspected to have been stolen. Their arrest was the outcome of a carefully coordinated operation aimed at curbing criminal activities and protecting residents from organised crime.

Items recovered from the suspects include a Toyota Camry 2010 model, popularly known as “Camry Muscle,” two vehicle registration plates bearing numbers ABJ-289-CQ (Abuja) and LAF-761-AG (Nasarawa), a Moniepoint ATM card, a cutlass, and the sum of ₦169,500 in cash.

According to the Command, preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects may be linked to a criminal syndicate involved in vehicle theft and other related offences. Investigators are currently working to establish the true ownership of the recovered vehicle and determine how it came into the possession of the suspects.

The Command disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected gang who remain at large. Security operatives have intensified intelligence-gathering and surveillance operations to ensure that all those connected to the alleged crime are brought to justice.

Commandant Brah Samson Umoru reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to combating criminality across Nasarawa State, stressing that the NSCDC will continue to identify, arrest and dismantle networks engaged in vehicle theft, robbery and other unlawful activities.

He noted that the Command remains resolute in its mandate to safeguard lives and property, adding that criminal elements will find no safe haven within the state.

The State Commandant also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and support security agencies with timely and credible information. He emphasized that effective security can only be achieved through strong collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve.

He further assured residents that the ongoing investigation would be conducted professionally, transparently and in accordance with the provisions of the law.

The NSCDC stated that upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspects and any other individuals found culpable would be charged before a court of competent jurisdiction for prosecution.

The Command reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all residents of Nasarawa State and pledged to sustain its efforts in the fight against crime and criminality.
